Legal Compliance Officer (Technology)

On behalf of Lexlance, we’re looking for sharp, tech-savvy Legal Compliance Officers who know how to navigate the blurred lines between law and innovation. If you can read a regulatory bulletin before your morning coffee and explain it in plain English to a tech team by lunch, we want you.
 

What you'll actually be doing:
 

• Translating complex laws (DPA, CBN, NCC, NITDA, SEC, etc.) into actionable guidance for devs, product teams, and leadership.
• Reviewing apps, products, and systems before launch to spot legal landmines (data privacy, payment systems, consumer protection, AI governance).
• Building compliance frameworks that don’t just tick boxes, but actually work.
• Keeping an eye on evolving tech regulations across Nigeria and relevant global trends (GDPR, AI Act, etc.).
• Training internal teams on risks they didn’t know existed.
• Acting as the point person for audits, investigations, or the occasional government “knock knock.”

You should apply if:

• You are a Nigerian-qualified Lawyer, and you have 3+ years in compliance, tech law, or regulatory roles.
• You understand the tech ecosystem (APIs, payment infrastructure, data flows, and why encryption matters)
• You don’t just quote laws. You interpret, adapt, and argue their relevance.
• You’ve worked with or inside fintech, telcos, SaaS, or platforms.
• You can write clearly, think critically, and speak like a human (not a compliance robot).
